Thanks for your info!
The xgl.compiz.info repository is so much better than the one from Beerkid or the default Ubuntu reo.

I have a tip for you too:
To run (OpenGL/SDL) games properly while running Xgl, you can use xgame. It's a Perl script to fire up a game in a separate (normal) X session.

In Ubuntu you will probably have to run this script as root (with sudo -H, or gksu)

Have fun :-)

Lazy_R,

Excellent! Thank you very much for the tip about xgame -- this is really useful as some non-GL games also seem to display with an improper "add" effect -- I've used the Xnest trick here past, but having an interface to handle launching an auxilliary X server is very handy. I would be careful to add though that until recently, I believe the ATI fglrx driver had a hanging problem when two X servers were launched simultaneously. This seems to have been <a href="https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/linux_8.25.18.html#180233" rel="nofollow">resolved</a> in the latest version of the driver. :)

I've updated the post with your tip.
